Once, not long ago, in the darkest moments of the Second World War, cinema was the only way to raise the morale of a nation. The film takes place in London, in the 1940s, when the British Empire was at a low point when faced with the Nazi aggression. The British Ministry of Propaganda hires Catrin Cole, a young screenwriter, to bring a feminine perspective to the national propaganda campaign, designed to brighten the hopes of the populace after the horrifying events of the Blitzkrieg. Catrin will try, in spite of her condescending colleagues and husband, to make a name for herself in an industry yet unprepared for the creative potential of the female gender. The story and the film that she tries to create with optimism and strength both for the government as well as for the British people could change the very course of the war. A period piece full of finely crafted details, full of emotion, drama and authentic british humor.
